One Union is a student-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing free music lessons to underserved youth. Founded in 2023 by high school students who recognized the stark gap in arts access, One Union delivers a structured 12-week curriculum, community performances, and opportunities for volunteers to teach or launch chapters in their own cities.Currently, the organization operates across six chapters and has worked individually with more than 200 students to date.
But One Union’s mission extends beyond music instruction. The nonprofit is committed to building a supportive community where every student feels valued and empowered to grow—without being sidelined by cost or circumstance.
To make music education accessible and sustainable, One Union is developing a comprehensive curriculum covering notation, rhythm, ear training, and fundamentals. This approach allows new volunteers to onboard quickly and enables students to learn from anywhere.
Looking ahead, One Union envisions expansion to 20+ cities nationwide and a clear pathway from a child’s “first lesson” to their “first performance”, even for those beginning with nothing but passion and curiosity.
